When we talk about dosage, we talk about the amount you take, not the amount it "yields" in your body. Nobody knows how much goes where in the body, much less how to measure it. However, 100mg prometrium capsule taking one time is enough to cause overdone symptoms, as I cited above.Etsuko Uedahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10014404635271515066noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5339105318726100928.post-25184308630380560582017-09-11T19:53:42.085-05:002017-09-11T19:53:42.085-05:00Great blog. Normally, you have less hot flashes for 90 minutes after meal. Brain haze cleared but in afternoon, something increased my blood pressure; checks got red, major energy rush. Also, since lowering the estrogen dose down, hot flashes back stronger than ever. I think I will need to up the estrogen dose to 0.05 to possibly get some relief, but will have to go slow to let body adjust. I never give the body more than 1-2 days before changing something, trying to chase symptoms. May need more time.
Pinkshellshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10894000841288079096noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5339105318726100928.post-79652722093222658132017-03-15T18:20:19.256-05:002017-03-15T18:20:19.256-05:00Are you putting the patch on your arm? I think all the estradiol goes straight to your brain before it goes around the rest of the body when you put it on arm. If that is the case, put the patch on the lower abdomen near the base of your leg, and see if that makes any difference. 5mg of Progesterone is not enough. Put 15mg at a time 2 to 3 times a day, until you feel calm and relaxed. Try this for a couple of days, and let me know how it goes. It has been a roller coaster trying to add T3, remove T3, every time we removed T3 estrogen would return to normal until a couple months ago. Now, I am in early menapause at 46 with no estrogen, no progesterone, low testosterone and DHEA. I have horrible hot flashes and brain fog. Integrative doctor started me on 0.0375 Vivelle Dot and 5mg of Prgesteone. I find as soon as I put the patch on, I experience massive brain haze and headache. I was also having excessive hot flashes. We upped the dose, hot flashes subsided but the brain haze has increased 10 fold. As soon as I remove the patch, haze lifts. I never make it past 2-3 days of wearing the patch. I have tried a tiny amount of DHEA with low dose patch but never make it past a couple days. This is a disaster and I don't know if I will ever feel the same. I'm so frustrated and tired of feeling horrible. Any help would be much appreciated. I mentioned it in "Hormones: Dos and Don'ts". See the table section at the bottom. The problem of progesterone overdose is that it weakens the magnesium uptake property of the cells, which is the underling mechanism of many protective activities of progesterone. The very reason that you don't feel well has a lot to do with it. At a physiological (10 to 40 mg/day) dose progesterone helps cells to take up magnesium and maintain proper calcium/magnesium ratio, at a higher dose progesterone loses that property.Etsuko Uedahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10014404635271515066noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5339105318726100928.post-26788064232691198982017-02-26T08:33:22.433-06:002017-02-26T08:33:22.433-06:00I have tried several times to post but seem to be ...I have tried several times to post but seem to be having trouble.

I am on Vivelle Dot 0.05 and alternate it with the Vivelle 0.0375 patch. My doctor allowed me to only use Progesterone (promethium) for 10 days every 4-5 weeks as my progesterone component. But those 10 days are hell: bloating, constipated, water retention, sluggish, slow digestion, etc. etc. I have been on this regimen for 2 years.

He insisted that the topical progesterone cream (I have always gone with Pro-Gest) is NOT enough progesterone to offset the Vivelle patch's estradiol level. I am seeing now that perhaps he was wrong. I would like to try using the Pro-Gest daily at 1/4 - 1/2 teaspoon and continue on my 0.0375 Vivelle patch. But do fear the build up endometrium.

However there HAS to be a better way. I realize after reading your post that taking 200mg progesterone capsules for 10 days is definitely TOO much progesterone for me! (and for many other women). I am hoping that using the cream with result in enough protection. I am wondering if I should insist on a vaginal ultrasound to check the lining every 6 months or so? I have been on enjuvia .09 mg (1) tab daily ever since. No issues. Felt great. Usually have to take a good multi vitamin with it to keep my emotions in balance. No problem. As of Jan 2016 - they are no longer making enjuvia and dr suggested estradiol as replacement. Didn't feel quite right after the switch. After tow weeks taking 1 mg/day, dr upped dosage to 2 mg/day. I am now having insomnia... which all my family knows I have ALWAYS slept like a ROCK through wind fire rain and hail... also having foggy feeling with inability to focus along with a feeling of energy but more like heart palpitations with restlessness. My job requires a lot of focus, and I've never had a problem before. Now I find it very difficult to finish a task. Any suggestions? In a perfect world, doctors would listen to what their patients are saying to adjust the prescription, but they seldom do for the hormone replacement, because their knowledge is out dated and limited.
I hope you will try my method. Nobody need E2 (estradiol) more than 0.05 mg per day, and the safe and effective progesterone dose for that level of estradiol is 10 to 40 mg per day. I had total hysterectomy removed both ovaries at age 39. I am now 59 was feeling pretty good doing the whily protocol until my dr. stopped it after 5 years cuz my liver was sending the estorgen down the wrong path...stopped cold turkey I'm going crazy. I have bioidentical homones to take 1mg two times a day of e2 estrogen and 5 mg of progesterone but the big problem is when I put on the estrogen about an hour after I start getting cramps in my intestines and they keep getting stronger and stronger then when cream is starting to wear off they are not as intense but then its time to put next dose on...don't understand it. I've been calling my dr and her nurse for day they haven't answered me back I don't know what this means or what to do.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03031122522241188466noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5339105318726100928.post-78650744157054474902015-09-04T01:41:35.480-05:002015-09-04T01:41:35.480-05:00I believe you know the answer. I've been doing this day 14-28 for a year now. it seems to help with my emotional state ( sometimes) and pms symptoms but I've started bleeding, cramping, extreme tiredness and bloated to the max. The spotting is dark brown but then with be really heavy and then stop. Does this sound like progesterone overdose? I feek so lost on what to do moving forward. I never feel good if I'm not tired, I'm cramping and bloated and if I'm not doing that then I'm exhausted and can't function . I am a 23 year old female with genetic inadequate luteal phase and after 4 years of battling with doctors, I hopefully found one who is willing to listen. The first doctor gave me a blood test confirming I had low progesterone (He thought I was psychosomatic) and put me on birth control that just made me sick for 2 years. And my current has me on 200mg progesterone which makes me lethargic and have GI issues. So hopefully this next one is able to help.

I just wanted to say THANK YOU for putting out there that a little goes a long way...

Sincerely,
Miss.Severe stomach pain Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
